Eking it Out

Why is it so damn hard?  The part I was working on should've been a cinch.  And it would’ve been if I’d been able to keep my focus.  I couldn’t.  I wanted to be sitting out on the deck; reading; answering email; talking on the phone.  Anything but writing.

I stayed at my desk.  I kept at it.  Wrote six pages.  I’m glad it’s over for the day.

Six pages is "eking it out"?

I hate you, Sandra Scoppettone.

Okay, not realy.

No, it isn't. And I almost never do more than 5. I guess I didn't express what I meant. It was painful and slow and a big fat chore. The fact that I ended up with 6 pages was amazing. Of course, I don't know if they're any good. But as I've said before, right now I'm just trying to get it down.

And why doesn't your jd rhoades lead anywhere?

I know, I was teasing. :-)

And why doesn't JD Rhoades lead anywhere? It's a metaphor, I guess...

When I first tried to respond to someone with a blogger account i thought signing up was the only way I could do it under my name...so now I guess I have an empty blog.

Ken,
Thanks so much. What a great review. You refer to professional jealousy (not having it) so it makes me wonder if you're a writer. This anonymous posting makes it hard. At least you signed your name.

She made it look easy with hard, hard work.

So glad you liked it.
Ken who?

From the style, and the Irish reference, I'd say it could be Bruen. ::waves to Ken::

Ha! It couldn't be anyone else...Sandra, meet Ken Bruen, a great writer despite what he says and one of the genuinely nicest people on Earth. If you've never met him or read his amazing books, you really should.

Ken,
When Dusty suggested it was Bruen I couldn't believe it. It was beyond my imagination that you would leave a comment on my blog.

I'm a great fan of yours. You can stop wrestling with the--am I a writer--question because you are absolutely a writer and a wonderful one.

Magdalen Martyers is on my bedside table and as soon as I get through the pack of library books that came in, I'll read it with pleasure as I have your others.

I'm so thrilled that you liked my book.
Thanks again.

Ken,
I'll have to take a raincheck as I'm not going to B'con this year. Love to shoot the breeze with you, too. Next time. Thanks for the invite.

Rats. After discovering this blog, I was hoping you'd be there.

Maybe on the road...
