As a published crime writer I'm going to post what it's like to be a professional writer, the good and the bad days, writing and not writing.
"A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people." Thomas Mann
Reminiscent of Einstein's comment re worrying about difficulties in mathematics.
Here in sunny Los Angeles some years ago, composer Arnold Shoenberg, believing himself to be the model for Adrian Leverkuhn, the central character of Thomas Mann's Doctor Faustus, ran into Mann at the Westward Ho grocery market (now a Natural Foods) in Brentwood and shouted, "I do not have syphilis!"Not only wasn't Doctor Faustus easy to write, it's almost impossible to read.
