Something New For Me

I've never had an audio sale.  I'm not sure why.  I have a terrific, hard working agent (she's not taking any more clients) but no one ever bought the rights to any of my novels for this purpose.

But my agent called me today to tell me that I'd gotten an audio sale for This Dame For Hire which will be published in June by Ballantine.

I was thrilled.  I'm not jaded, afterall!

How much input will you have in the selection of the person who will read for the recording? I enjoy books on tape and feel not having the "right" voice do the audio can greatly reduce my enjoyment of the story.

I think audio sale is a great idea. A good way to share the pleasure of reading. We are not talking about theatre or movies (not yet), and not really interested in who is going to be « the voice » (sorry Suzanne, but I can’t agree) . there’s enough qualified people all around, the hell if you don’t find one who could read the text properly. Have confidence in the characters and the rythm and the style of your writing, and that’s all. Have one of your books ever been translated into Braille ? Perhaps, don’t know... but, with an audio, I’ll be finally able to share my readings with some blind friend of mine, or an elder. What are books written for, at last ?

Wordsrock, I don't have any say about who reads.

Marie, I'm glad you'll share it with someone when the time comes.

Bounce, thanks for your enthusiasm.
