All my outside obligations are over. So now I have time to write. Do I want to? Maybe.
When I go to bed I tell myself that tomorrow I’ll start something. And when I wake up I don’t do it.
Knowing that whatever I write probably won’t sell makes it hard. I’ve never had to worry about that since I started publishing in the early seventies.
I’m lucky, you say. Yes, I know. I was writing at a great period in publishing history. Now it’s not so hot. And I’m not on the wanted list. I’m not at an age where some editor will feel he/she can mold my career. So what to do?
Should I stay in the crime field? Or should I write whatever comes into my head? I have a better chance if I stay in my genre, but only a tiny one.
I don’t have a book in me that I’ve been dying to write for years and years. I’ve already written that book.
I can only hope that more will be revealed.

Welcome back. I've been up to my eyeballs with a conference. I'll never do that again--though it was sort of fun to try to pull one together. It was Saturday and we had twice as many people come as in the past.
What would happen, Sandra, if you forced yourself to write? I think you've told us before but I've forgotten. If you made yourself write two pages a day until you reached the end, would that work for you...or against you?
What would happen if you sat down and just started typing with no idea...just started with a woman staring through a plate glass window or sitting at a sidewalk cafe? Have you ever grabbed a scene from thin air and just ran with it?
Just curious 'cause I really enjoy reading about how you've written in the past, how you've pulled your books together.
I hope you find yourself back in front of the keyboard. We could use one more crime novel by Sandra Scoppettone.
We wait for because we are sure we will read you again.
Hi Sandra,
I just stopped by to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and to say I hope the answers you are waiting for come to you soon.
Terrie
I hope the Muse strikes you again. On an unrelated note, do you have a brother? I saw a credit for a guy named Scoppettone (Richard? Can't recall) and thought of you.
Thanks everyone for your encouragement and good wishes. You'll see my latest decision on the Dec. 3rd. post.
Cap'n Bob: I have no siblings. But there are a few other Scoppettones not related to me. What do you mean you saw a credit for the name?
