Over A Thousand Words

Yes.  Four pages and a half.  It was hard to start and by the 2nd page I thought, I can’t do this.  By the end of the 2nd page, and some caffeine, I let myself go with it and it felt good.  Not that what I wrote is necessarily good.  I don’t know about that yet.

Don’t like writing without a title.

How about this for a working title:

"It Couldn't Happen to a Nicer Girl"

Not quite sure what you mean by that, Pat. I'm not writing a Faye Quick book. So I wonder how you can suggest a title.

How often do you assign a title for the purposes of saving the file and then are stuck with it? Not really asking, just reporting my experience. So happy to read this.

What, you couldn't hit 5 pages?

Hehe, I joke because I love. Congrats. Since you're writing without a contract, without a net, and without fear, why not write without a title?

I'm glad that you seem happy to have started. The title will come.

I had to laugh at Pattinase's comment. I recently wrote a story that i assigned a title just to save and when I was a little further along, I realized what the title of the story should be so I called it by that name, EXCEPT I never changed the file name. One morning I went in to retrieve the file for revisions and I couldn't find it. I almost had a breakdown. Thought I'd lost it until I remembered the file name. I learned a lesson.

Great luck.

I'm a little late coming into this, since the story has already been written and published... but since I'm a short story writer, I have this to say: A novel is prose growth. A short story is prose revelation. It is no wonder you didn't have a title before you started. It had not been revealed to you yet.

Can't wait to read it! Where do you think the anthology will be sold?

I'm not referring to the short story in this post. However, the anthology is on sale on Amazon and probably will be in most stores...especially mystery books stores. Other than that, I have no idea. I was referring to a novel I was starting. Needless to say, it didn't go anywhere.

Title of my story is:
Everybody Loves Somebody
